Will fit a child about 5/6
Wool 2 balls double knitting
Knitting Needles size 4mm
Cast on 86 stitches loosely
Pattern == Knit 2, Purl 2 and repeat across the row
Copy this pattern for 13 1/2 inches
Now shape crown
right side facing
1. knit 2 together and purl 2 together across the row
2. next row= knit 1, purl 1 across the row
3 Next row knit 2 together across the row
Hat finished
Now you thread a tapestry needle and draw up through all the stitches left on the needle
and pull fairly tight and stitch down the side seam until you get 3 to 4 inches from the
bottom now you stitch the rest of the way on the opposite side . This is done so that
when the hat is turned up the seam will be on the inside. Not the outside.
Now to change the size for the child just increase 4 stitches to go up a size or decrease 4 stitches to go down a size and follow the same pattern. Very easy
