               BEEF STEW

1 1/2 pounds of stew beef

or 2 slices of eye of the round steaks

1 onion

3 stalks celery

5 carrots

4 med/large potatoes

1/2 med turnip

herbs parsley, 2 bay leaves

salt and pepper to taste

1/2 cup of flour

Prepare

Dice the meat into small pieces

chop herbs

into a plastic bag put flour, herbs, salt and pepper

and the meat and shake well

Pour oil into fry pan and put

all the flour and meat and fry until brown

then add all to the pot with the vegetables

Cover with water and bring to a boil

then turn to simmer and cook

for about 2/3 hours on low

Stir occasionally

Thicken to taste
